Alloy rims

Thanks to their original design and the wide range of patterns and colours available, many drivers choose aluminium models over steel ones. Well selected alloy wheels emphasise the character of any car. Additionally, they offer outstanding parameters, given by the shaping process of the aluminium.

What are the main features of alloy wheels?

The primary advantage of alloy wheels is the flexibility provided by aluminium. The material's machinability makes them much more resistant to deformation compared to steel wheels. Another thing that distinguishes aluminium wheels is the excellent heat dissipation of the brakes. This is all thanks to light alloys, which are excellent conductors. It has an invaluable effect on maintaining optimum braking power in difficult conditions..

Freedom in the design of the spoke layout allows for designs that allow more cool air to pass through, thereby preventing excessive friction and overheating of individual brake components. Therefore, an aggressive and sporty design can not only look good, but also radically improve the function and durability of the discs and callipers. Moreover, alloy wheels ensure optimum rigidity and are able to significantly reduce wheel deflection when cornering.

Alloy wheels - basic parameters:

- diameter and width - shown in inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm)

- bolt pattern (PCD) - essential, each car has a different PCD

- off-set (ET) - defines the distance between the mounting plane of the rim and its vertical centre of symmetry. This value may be positive or negative. ET is zero when the mounting plane is exactly on the vertical centre of symmetry

- centre bore - its diameter is given in millimetres

There are several common types of alloy rims, including five-spoke rims, multi-spoke rims, rim with flange, mesh rims, bolt-on rims and concave rims.

How to choose the right alloy wheels?

Ensuring the right fit of alloy wheels is worthwhile. An ideal model will not only ensure safety, but also increase comfort during everyday travels.
